Library Card

We took Carter to get his very own library card on Saturday! Our library requires kids can write their own name in order to get a card.  Carter filled out the entire application by himself, we then went to the library and he got some Captain Awesome books.  He was very proud to get his own card and put it in his wallet when we got home.
Filling out his application.  We got one at the school when we went for orientation.

Weir River Farm

We took the kids to the open barnyard and Weir River Farm on Saturday.  It was a beautiful day so it was nice to be outside.

Kindergarten Orientation

Its really happening! Carter goes to Kindergarten in the fall.  On Wednesday we had orientation.  We went to the school and all the kids got to go into a classroom with the teachers and they did some activities while the parents went to the cafeteria and listened to the principal and someone from the PTO speak.  Carter did great and he liked seeing the school.  He was most fascinated with the cafeteria, I think he is really intrigued about the idea of leaving his classroom to go eat lunch!
I picked up Carter from school and we went to Panera to get a treat before orientation.  Then we picked up Daddy!

In front of the school.  I only took two pictures, Dave had his eyes closed in one and Carter in the other....

Let me in!

Waiting in line at the Kindergarten entrance...they have there own wing and separate entrance from the rest of the school.

5k

I ran a 5k this past Saturday with Jess and Kate.  The kids did a fun run after too.  Carter really liked doing the run and keeps asking me about other ones to sign up for! It was a really fun day!
Mason taking the lead.

Captain America

The kids had Super Hero day at school this week.  Mason dressed up in Carter's old Captain America costume.  It has a mask that covers his face and I would think makes it hard to see.  When I picked him up from school he was still wearing it! His teachers said it was on most of the day, they made him take it off to play outside in the gym (which makes me happy), but I guess he was not pleased.  He would not take if off when we got home and he ate dinner in it!

Marathon Monday

Yesterday was a very sad day in our city.  A tradition in Boston, the marathon, was marred by unthinkable acts that still seem surreal.  Patriots Day in Boston is traditionally such a fun day in the city with lots of events and happiness.  I spent many of my pre-children days in the city during the marathon and it was a great time.  Unfortunately, this day will forever be marred with this tragedy and it makes me feel sad that Patriots Day in Boston will always mean something different to my kids.  The kids were at school for a half day the day of the marathon.  Carter's class talked about the marathon and held a "mini marathon" for all the kids.  When I picked him up he was so excited about it and asked who won the marathon and if we could watch.  I couldn't.  Couldn't turn on the television with him because I did not want him to see the images on TV.  Its hard explaining to a 5 year old what happened.  Tragedies such as this take on a new meaning when you have kids.
