Tufts Community Day & Visit From Avery

Tufts University hosts a community day every year. It was fun they provided lunch, shows, and activities for kids.

When we got home we had a surprise visit from Priya, Avery, & Zoe. Carter and Avery had so much fun playing together.

Apple Picking

We have been having beautiful fall weather lately, perfect for apple picking. We went to a new orchard this year. It was not as nice as the one we usually go to, but still fun!

Vineyard Haven & Lobster Rolls

Friday night we went to Vineyard Haven. We had read that Grace church sells lobster rolls on Fridays. They were the best lobster rolls I have ever had. There was so much meat, hardly any mayo and just a little pepper. For $15.00 you got a lobster roll, a bag of chips and a drink. It was not only a great deal, but seriously good! It was also nice because there was a playground there and the kids had a great time playing while we ate.

Aquinnah

On Friday we drove out to Aquinnah. It was a little bit of a haul because it was opposite of where we were staying. The view was worth the drive and Carter got to go in the light house with me.

Edgartown & More Beach

One evening we took the kids into Edgartown to walk around and get something to eat. We just got take out and sat at the docks for dinner. When Dave's Mom was here, just Dave and I went out in Edgartown one evening. It was fun and such a pretty town.

Vineyard Part IV-Flying Horses and Ice Cream

Where we stayed was so close to everything in Oak Bluffs. We went to the flying horses, ocean park, and got the kids ice cream or some sort of treat almost every evening.

Vineyard Part III-Chappaquiddick

Someone had suggested that we go to Chappaquiddick to see the beaches there. It is a separate island and you have to take a little ferry to get there. The ferry is crazy, it only holds 2-3 cars and literally takes two minutes to cross. When we got to Chappaquddick we were so happy we decided to go. The beaches are so beautiful and there was no one there. The first beach we went to was very rough and there was a lot of erosion from the storm so we just stayed on the beach and looked at the water. A ranger then told us about the other beach that is bigger and calmer so we went there. It was one of the best beaches I have ever been to. The kids had so much fun and there were crabs and sea shells to find.

Vineyard Part II-Beach & Menemsha

For the rest of our trip we had perfect weather. On Monday morning we got up and went to the beach in Edgartown and then spent the rest of the day at State beach. It was gorgeous. The kids are both beach bums.

On Monday afternoon we went to Menemsha. There are amazing sunsets at the beach and there are two fish markets where you can buy food, they cook it for you and you can eat outside. One of the benefits of traveling later in the summer was the sunset is earlier so we could have the kids out to see it and we didn't keep them up too late. We loved Menemsha so much we went twice. Dave's Mom spent some time with us so we went on a night she came to visit.
